The state attorney general’s office is setting up a task force to combat the sale of counterfeit goods.
Standing near a table covered with various items, including pirated movies and counterfeit hairstyling appliance, Attorney General Jim Hood announced the agency received a $200,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to combat intellectual property crimes.
In addition to stepping up prosecution efforts, his office also will train other law enforcement agencies in identifying and confiscating forgeries.
“It’s a worldwide problem because a lot of it is coming from other countries,” Hood said during a Wednesday news conference in his office.
