Warrs request for government records denied
Prosecutors have met their obligation to provide former Mayor Brent Warr and his wife, Laura, with records related to Katrina fraud charges against them, Magistrate Judge Robert H. Walker ruled Friday in denying the Warrs’ request for extensive FEMA records to prepare for their Oct. 5 trial.
The Warrs are accused of defrauding the federal government by claiming a beachfront home as their primary residence when Katrina hit so that they could obtain FEMA relief funds and a $150,000 homeowner’s grant to rebuild.
Prosecutors contend the Warrs were living in a family home off the beach while the beachfront home underwent renovation.
