UF-UT matchup not the same without Steve Spurrier

It’s always this time of year — the week of the Florida-Tennessee game — when I nostalgically yearn for the days when Steve Spurrier was Florida’s football coach. Spur-Dog was always at his best when poking and prodding UT. Maybe it was because Spurrier grew up in Tennessee, but he always knew what it took to get under the skin of former UT coach Phil Fulmer and his Rocky Toppers.
Who will ever forget his famous line, “You can’t spell Citrus Bowl without UT?” Or what about the year when Tennessee lost to Memphis and Spurrier giddily showed off a list of Tennessee’s preseason goals? The list included: National Championship (scratched out), SEC Championship (scratched out), SEC East Division Championship (scratched out), State Championship (scratched out) and Knox County Championship (circled).

Oh, how I miss that man. …
