Fans’ Fixation With Georgia

LITTLE ROCK — Razorback fans’ unified fixation on Georgia took root that mid-January day when Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno closed the door on college football.

The early birds enrolled immediately, noting the Bulldogs’ lack of proven backups behind the quarterback and running back.

Other Arkansas fans began talking about the Georgia football game during the basketball team’s eight-game losing streak that began in January and lasted through February. Daily reports from spring football practice in April galvanized additional fans.

Laggards made it unanimous during the summer, identifying the Bulldogs as a Southeastern Conference opponent with a reputation for quality under Mark Richt, but a team that their Razorbacks could defeat.
