Chizik looks to build a new reputation
Auburn coach Gene Chizik has spent the last eight months gradually changing the perception of his surprising hire last December.
Tonight, when the Tigers kick off against Louisiana Tech, Chizik will be able to start rebuilding his reputation as a skilled game planner and game manager after a bleak 5-19 tenure at Iowa State.
“When you love to compete and you love everything about game day, as it gets closer, you get butterflies and things,” Chizik said. “I think that’s all natural.”
Auburn and Tech open the season at 6 p.m. at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game will be televised by ESPNU.
