Juco bruiser McPhee brings energy, terrific sack stats
STARKVILLE — Leave it to the colorful Carl Torbush, Mississippi State’s defensive coordinator, to give a fitting description of junior college transfer defensive tackle Pernell McPhee’s work ethic.
“Only way he’s going to stop going hard,” Torbush said, “is if he’s passed out.”
Those sorts of assessments have been common this off-season about McPhee, who signed with Mississippi State out of Itawamba Community College. A native of Pahokee, Fla., he signed with Southern Miss in 2007 over South Florida and Central Florida.
