20 seek to fill seat vacated by Bobby DeLaughter
Twenty people want to serve out the remainder of former Hinds County Circuit Judge Bobby DeLaughter’s term and that likely will delay the process to choose a replacement, the head of the governor’s judicial advisory group says.
“That’s a lot,” said Jackson attorney Ed Brunini Jr., chairman of Gov. Haley Barbour’s Judicial Advisory Committee.
Typically, five or six applicants seek county, chancery, circuit or appellate judge appointments.
But Brunini has said he expected more people to apply in Hinds County because the county has the largest population in the state.
