Miss. unemployment rate tops 10 percent
Three Mississippi counties had unemployment above 20 percent during July.
Numbers released by the Mississippi Department of Employment Security show the state’s unemployment rate jumped to 10.5 percent last month, up from a revised 9.9 percent during June. Last July, the unemployment rate was 8 percent.
July’s seasonally adjusted rate in the state was 9.7 percent, equal to the national average.
