The best discipline is winning
It had been a relatively quiet transition from one football season to the next at Auburn and Alabama.
There had been no arrests, no significant run-ins with the law, no embarrassing situations that force the head coach to explain and defend his disciplinary policy, questions that all coaches hate because they know there really is no perfect answer.
Quiet, that is, until last week.
First it was Alabama’s Courtney Upshaw arrested on a domestic disturbance charge. One day later, Auburn tailback Eric Smith was picked up for disorderly conduct.
