STARKVILLE — Golf fans have seen the story before: Golfer is contending at a major, but swears he’ll leave at the moment he hears his wife has gone into labor.
Phil Mickelson said it at the 1999 U.S. Open. Ross Fisher said it last month at the British Open.
J.C. Brignone, Mississippi State’s starting center, is hoping he has the same dilemma.
His wife, Blair, is due with their first child on Dec. 7 – “two days after the SEC Championship (Game),” Brignone quickly points out.
