The LSU Tigers held their first scrimmage of fall camp Saturday, and Coach Les Miles was pleased with how his offense, ran, caught, and threw the football.
All four quarterbacks played, with Jordan Jefferson getting the most snaps with the first unit. Miles said Jefferson was 9 of 14 with an interception, Jarrett Lee was 7 of 14, and ran the offense well. True freshmen Russell Shepard and Chris Garrett also got some snaps, and performed well, according to Miles. Shepard also ran plays at running back and wide receiver, catching one pass.
Miles was also pleased with the play from his wide receivers, Terrance Toliver, Brandon Lafell, Rueben Randle, Chris Mitchell, and R.J. Jackson.
The coach was displeased that his team had several pre-snap penalties.
“Our team is growing, and our team understands that it is not just sharp at times, but sharp all the time,” Miles said. “It is making sure that you pay attention to detail and get it fixed. Your business must be done as well as it can be done. It is a team, and you are responsible to us.”
On the defensive side of the football, three starters were out with minor injuries: linebackers Jacob Cutrera and Perry Riley, and defensive end Rahim Alem.
