Former Hinds County Judge Bobby DeLaughter is still waiting to hear when he could receive his sentence for pleading guilty to lying to the FBI, but he spoke exclusively to 16 WAPT News Tuesday.
“My family and I are coping with the situation,” DeLaughter said.
The former judge pleaded guilty two weeks ago in a federal court in Aberdeen. He admitted to lying to the FBI when asked what extent he had discussed a case he was presiding over with former Hinds County District Attorney Ed Peters.
When asked what he would say to his supporters, DeLaughter said: “Well, just I appreciate their support throughout the years. I appreciate the prayers and thoughts that have been coming in and the kind notes and letters.”
When asked why he pleaded guilty, he said: “I’ll have more to say later on, but right now, the case is still pending.
