Calhoun County gets $3 million with Travis Chilers’ help

Congressman Travis Childers (D-MS) announced $3,035,717 in essential community facilities projects in Alcorn and Calhoun Counties last week. These projects are being funded immediately with federal funds provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“It is essential that North Mississippians have access to up-to-date facilities that are critical to revitalizing rural communities,” said Congressman Childers. “These important Recovery Act funds will help ensure that Alcorn and Calhoun Counties have the funding and resources they need to strengthen local communities.”

Below is a list of projects receiving funding in Mississippi’s First Congressional District:

• $3,000,000 loan – Calhoun County Board of Supervisors, to renovate and expand courthouse building $3,000,000

• $11,499 grant – Alcorn County Board of Supervisors, to purchase new tractor, rotary mower, and bush hog

• $24,218 grant – Alcorn County Board of Supervisors, to purchase new tractor, mechanical sweeper, ditcher, and steel whell roller
