Ruling could give Bobby Bowden more leisure time
For the first time, Bobby Bowden actually seems as old as his 79 years. He’s sitting in the “Bobby Bowden Room” of the Roebuck Golf Course on a Saturday morning, towel draped around his neck, wide-brimmed hat covering his head, trying to delay going out into the heat of June to play a round of golf at the old course in East Lake.
Bowden is recovering from a bout of shingles and he knows he can’t afford to get overheated.
“I hate it,” Bowden said. “This is the time of year I get to come back to Birmingham and play golf, to go visit old friends and play on this course or that course. I’ve been doing this for 30 years and it’s become something I can’t wait for it to happen.
“Then I get sick.”
