Stay ready, head north – A warning
State and local emergency officials have two messages for people who live on the Coast as hurricane season approaches.
If you evacuate, head north, not east or west. Second, whether you stay or go, have enough food and supplies to take care of yourself and your family for 72 hours after a storm.
It’s a message they repeat every year, but it’s one residents need to hear, said Mike Womack, director of the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.
