One of the definitions for the word Mafia is “a group of people of similar interests or backgrounds prominent in a particular field or enterprise.” How can you not immediately think of College Football after reading that definition, but while that can fit for most profitable organizations; College Football has more in common with the Mafia than you might expect. The members of the College Football Mafia wield their power over writers, newspapers, television stations and even coaches just like they were on the corner grocery store getting taxed for protection. Let’s take a look at the similarities between the Tony Soprano type of Mafia and the Mafia running College Football today.
