Coahoma County Supervisor Dr. Roger Weiner arrested in federal prostitution sting

Local cardiologist and Coahoma County Supervisor Dr. Roger Weiner was arrested this past weekend as part of a federal investigation alleging he used an online chat room to hire out-of-state prostitutes.

According to a court affidavit and reports from Debra Madden of the Jackson FBI office, Weiner was arrested by FBI special agents at the Shady Nook gas station just north of Clarksdale around 10 a.m. Sunday. He was transferred to the Bolivar County Jail, and on Monday appeared for a preliminary hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge David Sanders in U.S. District Court in Greenville.

Weiner was released Monday afternoon on $20,000 bond, and will re-appear in Greenville on Thursday for a 1:30 p.m. probable cause hearing, according to an official in Sander’s office.

The doctor is alleged with violating the Mann Act, a federal statute which among its provisions, prohibits the solicitation of prostitution across state lines.
