OXFORD – The Rebels tuned up for their weekend trip to Auburn by pounding out 21 hits for an easy non-conference victory at Oxford-University Stadium.
Matt Snyder, David Phillips, Evan Button and Brett Basham all had three hits for the Rebels (33-13), who scored 10 runs in the first inning on eight hits, three walks, an error and three wild pitches. Zach Miller started the rout by leading off the bottom of the first with a walk and scoring on a double by Logan Power. Later in the inning, Miller hit a two-run homer. Kevin Mort also had a two-run single in the frame.
Basham had a double and a homer and drove in five runs for Ole Miss. Miller, Snyder, Phillips, Mort and Button had two RBIs apiece.
Bret Bukvich pitched the first four innings for Ole Miss, allowing three hits and a run while striking out four.
Ole Miss returns to Southeastern Conference play on Friday at Auburn, Ala., with the first game in a three-game series.
