A more mellow Melton, Jackson mayor promises
Mayor Frank Melton took office in July 2005 with guns blazing.
He surrounded himself with bodyguards and body armor. He embarked on high-profile sweeps of inner-city neighborhoods and boarded commercial planes with guns in tow.
But now, almost four years later, Melton, 60, says he has mellowed.
