Nick Saban ready to battle for Memphis recruits
MEMPHIS — Memphis had always been on the Crimson Caravan’s list of possible locations, and 2009 was the year it rotated onto the schedule.
The fact that the city figures to be a recruiting hotbed for the 2010 signing class?
The official word: Pure coincidence.
Alabama coach Nick Saban isn’t complaining.
On the second stop of Alabama’s annual spring tour, Saban arrived at the Peabody Hotel before the roof-top event attended by Alabama boosters, and the subject of recruiting quickly came up.
“They have very good football here,” Saban said. “And there’s a lot of good football players here. This is a recruiting area for us.”
