When Nick Saban formally was introduced on Jan. 4, 2007, the national media rained down hard on Alabama’s parade.
From ESPN’s Colin Cowherd saying Urban Meyer of Florida “will own Saban” to nicknames like Flipper, Slick Nick and Nick Satan. Others called him cheesy, one called him greasy and some called him a flat-out liar.
All that did was make Alabama fans love him even more.
