Melton to appoint Tyrone Lewis as Jackson police chief
Jackson Mayor Frank Melton said he is appointing Jackson Police Cmdr. Tyrone Lewis interim police chief.
Melton is expected to make an official announcement at 2 p.m.
“I really need somebody I can talk to that’s really community oriented,” Melton said.
He said he was pleased with (Malcolm) McMillin’s performance but that it is time to move on. “This is nothing negative about anybody else. I’ve been frozen out and I
really need somebody I can talk to.”
