It will be almost four months late, but Washington County Tax Collector Patricia Lee will be sworn in today for her second term.
A jury cleared Lee earlier this month of fraud charges after her second trial. But Lee had been unable to return to her office because she had a problem getting a required $100,000 personal bond.
Lee said Friday she has gotten a bond through another company.
“I have had a lot of calls from people saying they will be glad to have me back,” she said.
Lee’s first trial in November ended in a mistrial because of a hung jury.
Lee said she is unsure whether she will return to work immediately after being sworn in.
An interim tax collector was appointed by Gov. Haley Barbour to oversee the office while Lee was on suspension. However, Barbour has signed a proclamation returning Lee to her position.
