Had Anthony Grant accepted Alabama’s offer to become the next basketball coach of the Crimson Tide anytime before Thursday evening, his hiring would be considered a major coup.
For three years, the 42-year-old Grant has been the hottest name in mid-major coaching, the young coach consistently voted “most likely to succeed” at the next level.
But timing is everything.
