BCS power conferences rule NCAA selection
Is it time to end the pretense, and just admit that the non-BCS conferences have no place in this financially expanding BCS world?
Thirty-four at-large invitations were handed out for the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon.
Thirty of them went to members of the six power conferences.
The four invitations that were extended to non-BCS league members were the continuation of a disturbing trend, if you’re one of the little guys. In 2004, 12 non-BCS teams were invited to contribute to CBS’ “One Shining Moment” montage. Since then, the numbers have steadily dwindled to nine, then eight, then six, then six again, and now four.
