Like it or not, spread offense is infiltrating pro football

More and more college football teams are swearing by it. More and more NFL scouts are swearing at it.

The spread offense has become the rage from Gainesville, Fla., to Eugene, Ore., allowing Gators, Mountaineers, Ducks and ostensibly every team in the Big 12 to produce points promptly and prodigiously. It has pushed the excitement level in college football through the roof.
But it challenges NFL talent evaluators, who feel like they’re attempting to convert kilometers to miles — without a calculator — when they try to extrapolate how a spread player will fit in a pro offense.

“The correct word is challenging,” said Blake Beddingfield, the Titans’ scouting coordinator
