Former Auditor Steve Patterson sentenced to 2 years in Dickie Scruggs scandal

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 13, 2009

Patterson sentenced to 24 months

Steven Patterson will do prison time, despite his cooperation into the infamous conspiracy to bribe Circuit Judge Henry Lackey of Calhoun City.

Patterson was sentenced to 24 months in prison and given a $150,000 fine. He said he was deeply sorry during the sentencing. Patterson could have been given five years.

Patterson, a former state auditor who is not an attorney, was cited in his plea agreement as a bit player in the conspiracy.

Disgraced former attorney Timothy Balducci will also be sentenced today for his role in the judicial bribery scheme that toppled famed litigator Richard “Dickie” Scruggs.
