State’s top recruit leads Rebels’ parade

OXFORD – For Ole Miss, the recruiting season ended the same way the season ended – with an eye-opening victory.

The Rebels closed out play on the field with six straight wins and a Cotton Bowl victory in January.
Wednesday, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt closed the deal with one of the nation’s top offensive line prospects – 6-foot-8, 335-pound tackle Bobby Massie – to crown his highest-rated recruiting class.
Ole Miss signed 38 prospects, far above the NCAA limit of 25 scholarships, but the numbers will work out by some attending junior college or prep school, Nutt said.
“Recruiting is such a sport now, and back in the summer we were getting concern from fans,” Nutt said. “But the success from the season meant everything. The momentum É when we started to believe we started to achieve. That Florida game kept getting bigger and bigger.”
