College athletics recruiting services declare winners, losers

If it’s the first week of February, that means it’s time for the recruiting services to declare winners and losers.
Sometimes, the rankings look brilliant in hindsight. Other times, they are puzzling upon further review years later.

Between 2004 and 2008, the University of Southern California easily produced the highest average recruiting ranking by Rivals.com among I-A schools. All five Bowl Championship Series national champions and all 10 teams that have played for the national title since ð4 had an average recruiting ranking during the five-year period that was in the top 10.
