Flashback Friday: Jackie Sherrill – Part I
For 13 years, Jackie Sherrill roamed the sidelines at Mississippi State and led the Bulldogs to seven winning seasons, six bowl games and even a 10-win season. Referred to some as simply ‘Coach’, Sherrill gave Bulldog fans plenty to cheer about during his long tenure in Starkville.
Sherrill, who was also head coach at Washington State, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M, now resides in Memphis near his grandchildren.
And Sherrill has stayed busy since coaching his last game at MSU in 2003.
“We moved to Memphis to be close to our grandkid,” said Sherrill, who won 75 games in his 13 seasons at MSU. “And now we have two grandkids with Jackson and Daniel. That was the reason we moved, wanting to be near them.
“I have done some radio and TV things here,” said Sherril. “On Tuesdays and Thursdays (during the football season), I did a show on the Internet out of College Station and then a show on Fridays that was out of New York.”
