Former Rebel recruit choses Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, TENN. — A former Ole Miss football commitment said today he’ll sign with Vanderbilt.
Thad McHaney of Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy said after recently learning he’d been admitted academically to Vanderbilt that he will sign with Commodores.
“I always wanted to go to Vanderbilt,” the 6-feet, 5-inch, 240-pound tight end/defensive end said. “Once I got admitted, I thought about what place would be best for me, and I thought Vanderbilt would work best.
“Ole Miss is an up-and-coming program. They’ve got a great staff, great people. They’ve turned that situation around, and they’re going to be really great for a long time. I’ve got nothing negative to say about them. But Vanderbilt was one of the first schools to start recruiting me. I always had a good feel for what they’re trying to do.”
