Jackson Mayor Frank Melton’s serious ongoing legal problems and, now, his serious health problems have raised a serious question – Who is running the city of Jackson?
That question is raised, not as a matter of political disagreement or as a criticism of Melton’s performance, although there are performance issues.
Practically, it has become evident that no one is running the city of Jackson and the administration continues to deteriorate to the point that action must be taken.
Jackson’s chief administrator officer, Robert Walker, a former mayor himself, says everyone knows his or her job and is doing it.
However, that would be hard to determine. City Hall appears to be not only adrift with no long-term plan, but struggling to carry out short-term duties.
