Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann has presented the Commission on Marine Resources a check for $7.3 million from tidelands leases and assessments on the Mississippi coast.
The revenue was collected on tidelands leases in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2008.
The tidelands assessment revenue stems from 2005 legislation that allowed land-based casinos on the coast and required them to pay a tidelands assessment, which is based on the casino’s capital investment.
