BRAD LOCKE:No real honeymoons in the SEC
STARKVILLE – Well, the honeymoon was great – full of passion and excitement – but it’s over now.
Or it had better be.
I’m not being a downer or a wet blanket, just a realist. And so is Dan Mullen, which is a good and necessary quality for him to possess.
Mississippi State’s new football coach is certainly energetic and knows how to play to a crowd – read: He knows public relations (and so far, it seems he’s good at media relatin’, too).
If Mullen is as good as his word, though, he’s already directing that energy and enthusiasm into more meaningful and critical pursuits. He’s been sifting through what is left Sylvester Croom’s coaching staff, is looking at guys he wants to bring in, and is tearing up the highways and airways to keep the 2009 commitment class together, and perhaps make it a little stronger.
