Mississippi Star QB Tyler Russell still committed to Bulldogs
Even in the wild world of football recruiting, this drew notice.
On Nov. 30, a few hours after Mississippi State Athletic Director Greg Byrne and football coach Sylvester Croom agreed that a coaching change was needed, Byrne made a phone call. On the other line was 17-year-old Meridian quarterback Tyler Russell, one of the jewels of MSU’s recruiting class.
The conversation lasted for 15 minutes, with Byrne assuring Russell that the Bulldogs remained committed to him and the quarterback returning the favor.
