Neinas Sports has brokered several high-powered hires
MSU has hired Neinas Sports Services, the consulting firm headed by college football powerbroker Chuck Neinas, to assist in the search, Byrne confirmed late Saturday, some 10 hours after Croom annnounced he had resigned from the job he held for five years.
Neinas is the former commissioner of the Big Eight Conference and executive director of the College Football Association.
His firm has had a role in some of college football’s most recent high-profile hires, like Urban Meyer at Florida, Butch Davis at North Carolina and, recently, Lane Kiffin at Tennessee.
Neinas’ hire would seem to validate what Byrne said earlier Saturday – that he’ll conduct a nationwide search for Sylvester Croom’s replacement with no specific time frame.
