Coach in waiting not a good idea
Is it just me, or are there others who believe this coach-in-waiting thing has its flaws?
I understand the concept, and in theory it has a lot of merit. I’m just not so sure, in practical terms, it’s the way to go or that it will work.
The latest of the coaches in waiting is Will Muschamp at the University of Texas, who had his salary more than doubled and his future as the head coach of the Longhorns placed in writing this week.
Some have called it a win-win situation. It’s a win for Muschamp, who will take over one of the most storied college football programs in the country when his boss, Mack Brown, decides to retire, and a win for the school, which in theory has eliminated a coaching search.
