College football’s dirty little secret

Now that we’re down to four, it has come up again this week — college football’s dirty little secret.
It’s not really a secret because it’s right there for anyone to look at but when it’s brought up the typical reaction of college fans is to say, “That’s ridiculous. That’s outrageous. What’s the spread on Texas-Kansas?'”

There are four African-American coaches with head coaching jobs who will last past the end of this month now that Ty Willingham of Washington and Ron Price of Kansas State have been canned. It’s difficult for me to get up in arms about Willingham, who has yet to win a game. The outage over his firing should have happened when Notre Dame let him go.
