The city of Jackson delayed its selection of a new wastewater contractor again today, despite a looming deadline Friday.
The Jackson City Council was scheduled to vote on the contract this afternoon. Instead, Mayor Frank Melton’s administration told council members that a contract was not ready.
The council did not schedule another meeting to cast its vote.
The wastewater contract is one of the city’s largest, worth about $7 million a year for five years. The company selected will be in charge of running the city’s three wastewater treatment plants and 93 sewage pumps stations.
