Vanderbilt proves happy homecoming for Duke coach

Former Vanderbilt Coach George MacIntrye was sitting in his wheelchair as the final seconds ticked off the game clock and Duke had secured a 10-7 upset over the Commodores.

His oldest son, Mike, is Duke’s defensive coordinator. When Vanderbilt quarterback Mackenzi Adams’ deep pass was intercepted on Duke’s one-yard line in the final seconds, Mike MacIntyre was 10 yards out on the field. He dropped to his knees, his hands pounding the turf.
