Vanderbilt’s Bobby Johnson would be a good choice for Clemson

Clemson is as close to the SEC’s 13th member as there is. A rabid fan base, an 80,000-seat stadium and the burning desire to win championships makes Clemson a football school in a basketball conference.
That’s what makes its first coaching search in a decade so intriguing. If the Tigers want the splashy hire, they could choose former Oakland Raiders coach Lane Kiffin or Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp.

But if Clemson wants the steady hire, it should look awfully hard at Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson. Call it the safe choice, if you want. I call it the choice that could put Clemson over the top. When you talk to people who really know coaching, they gush about Johnson.
