Anything is possible in Rebels second half

After a refreshing two-day break and a Saturday off, Ole Miss reconvenes today to get ready for the start of the second half of the 2008 football season, a second half that begins on national television against an Alabama team whose national championship hopes improved Saturday despite an idle weekend.
As Houston Nutt said Thursday, there’s no point in looking back at the second half. What’s done is done. The Rebels are 3-3 overall and 1-2 in the Southeastern Conference, and what they could be or should be doesn’t matter anymore.

Ole Miss should have learned two lessons from the first half of the season, one that included heartbreaking losses to Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and South Carolina and an inspiring win at Florida. First, the Rebels can line up and play with anybody. That’s been proven week in and week out this season. That trend will certainly be tested in Tuscaloosa, where Nick Saban has put together a remarkably physical club that dictates tempo and can be punishing, but there have been no signs this season that the Rebels will be easily intimidated or blown out.
