LSU notes: Hatch at 100 percent; Lee remains starter

BATON ROUGE — LSU quarterback Andrew Hatch is practicing 100 percent again after suffering a mild concussion at Auburn on Sept. 20 and not playing in LSU’s last game against Mississippi State on Sept. 27.

But Hatch’s role behind starter Jarrett Lee in Saturday’s game at Florida is up in the air.

“It really kind of depends on the feel of the game,” LSU coach Les Miles said. “But yes, I think that Lee will get a first look, and we’ll bring in Andrew on the second or third series, maybe later. Who knows?”

Hatch started LSU’s first three games of the season. Lee replaced him in the third quarter at Auburn and led LSU to victory. Lee then started the next week against Mississippi State and will start his second straight game Saturday.

“I think he’s continuing to come,” Miles said of Lee. “He’s had practices like he had games, and he’s had some really strong practices in the last week. We expect that to continue. As we get into game plans, his ability to master the game plan is, in my opinion, a weekly event. And it’s one in which he’s doing a really good job.”
19-0 at night

Everyone knows LSU is often tough to beat at night in Tiger Stadium, but lately the night time is the right time for the Tigers in any stadium.

LSU goes into its 7 p.m. kickoff against Florida Saturday on a 19-game winning streak at night. The Tigers have won three night games this season — two in Baton Rouge and one at Auburn. There were seven straight victories in 2007 in night games, which the NCAA considers as starting with a 5 p.m. kickoff or later, and eight in a row in 2006.

The win over Miami in the Peach Bowl to end the 2005 season started the p.m. streak. LSU’s last night-time loss was 34-14 to Georgia in the 2005 SEC championship game.
