Gators unable to crack tough Nutt
GAINESVILLE — Despite Oregon State’s upset of top-ranked Southern California two days prior, fourth-ranked Florida came down with the Trojan virus Saturday at Florida Field.
Like USC, the Gators (3-1, 1-1) paid the ultimate price and suffered an upsetting 31-30 home loss to Ole Miss (3-2, 1-1) to likely plummet in the polls.
Ole Miss was feisty, competitive and downright hard-headed in refusing to roll over and play dead for the Gators.
All 90,106 sun-drenched fans watched the Rebels take early and late leads, force turnovers and make it a game — something no one but the couple hundred Reb fans behind the Ole Miss bench expected to happen.
