USC throws snake eyes in college title crapshoot
Five reflex answers to five pertinent questions in the wake of Oregon State’s 27-21 Thursday night shocker over Southern Cal.
Who plays for the national title?
Haven’t you learned anything? At this point, we might as well have a raffle. In fact, we just wrote each of the Top 25 teams on a slip of paper and dumped them in Syracuse ball cap. This morning’s winners: Brigham Young and South Florida. Those are as good a bets as any at this point.
One last time: It’s a complete crapshoot to determine the teams who will meet January 8 in Miami. Neither Southern Cal nor Ohio State is out of the conversation yet. But since you forced our hands, and you’d like some logic in your Internet reports, here are our favorites, as of September 26:
• Oklahoma, which has the nation’s most complete team
• Florida, which has the most favorable schedule of the top teams.
Then again, on Thursday afternoon, Southern Cal’s schedule looked cozy, too.
