After a great deal of gnashing of teeth about this debate within Democratic and even Republican circles (via my good friend Andy Taggart), I humbly offer the McCain campaign one suggestion.

Send Sarah Palin

It’s really a no lose deal. McCain gets the best of both worlds. He gets to go to Washington to fight for the right solution on the bailout proposal. For Palin, it looks Vice-Presidential. She really couldn’t lose. It puts her up against Obama, and without the aid of him having a teleprompter, she just might win. Whether Obama would cower from that fight and send Biden (which would be a blessing) or if he took her on himself, McCain wins.

It would throw the media world on its ear and bring a whole new level of interest to the debate. It would certainly be a risk, but McCain knows a little about that.
