Oh, Nutts! Not again

OXFORD — When Houston Nutt arrived in Oxford, the first-year coach promised that change was coming to the Rebels football program. He talked of restoring a winning attitude, renewing the team’s dedication to discipline and – most of all – the declaration that fun was spelled W-I-N.

So when the Rebels went on the road last Saturday against nationally ranked Wake Forest and scored what appeared to be the go-ahead touchdown with 1:01 remaining in the game, the euphoria was palpable.
Until just 61 seconds later, when Sam Swank’s 41-yard field goal gave the Demon Deacons an improbable 30-28 victory and handed the Rebels their 15th straight loss to a ranked team.
And the only thing that spells is %-@-#-!.
“Boy, that was a tough one to get over,” Nutt said.
