Putting finishing touches on Clemson leaves Saban satisfied

TUSCALOOSA —
The highlight for Alabama coach Nick Saban was a sequence that didn’t even include a touchdown. There would have been plenty from which to choose.

It wasn’t his team creating a turnover, though the Crimson Tide caused two and turned both into points. And it certainly wasn’t Julio Jones’ first touchdown, which came in the third quarter.
Instead, in UA’s 34-10 domination of No. 9 Clemson Saturday night in the Chick-fil-A College Kickoff, the one turn of events that left him satisfied began with 12:33 to go in the game. The lead was already 17 points. A Tigers comeback was possible, but not likely.
Saban left the Georgia Dome fulfilled because his team eliminated any doubt.
From its own 12-yard-line, Alabama marched 78 yards in 14 plays. Perhaps more importantly, the Tide’s last drive took 8 minutes, 54 seconds off the clock, leaving Clemson out of hope and out of time.
