Forecast for Senate race: Nasty and getting nastier

By: Magnolia Tribune - August 18, 2008

The Sun Herald, 8/17/8

They say politics makes strange bedfellows.

Well, it makes strange enemies, too.

Take Ronnie Musgrove and Roger Wicker, now in a no-holds-barred match for Trent Lott’s old Senate seat.

Never mind the fact that they look like twins; these two guys are – er… were – very good friends. They roomed together in Jackson when they were both in the state Senate. Their families have vacationed together.

Well, you wouldn’t know it now.

They’ve accused each other of lying, ruining both the state and national economy, breaking campaign finance laws, costing hard-working Mississippians their jobs – everything but cattle rustling. Oh, wait, I forgot… Wicker supporters have pretty much accused Musgrove of cattle rustling of sorts, with the failed state-financed beef plant fiasco.
