Celebs not in Farish refurb

After years of delay and disappointment, the Farish Street entertainment district appeared back on track with grand plans, including sizable investments by renowned actor Morgan Freeman and blues legend B.B. King.

However, representatives of King and Freeman said Tuesday they are not investors in the new plans for an expanded Farish Street development.

“That is just totally wrong,” Bill Luckett, Freeman’s business partner, said.

“It’s all untrue,” said Floyd Lieberman, King’s business manager.

Last week, Jackson developer David Watkins detailed the new plans that included the addition of a number of African-American business partners, the most famous of whom were Freeman and King.
